I was alive at the beginning and free to serve
The Lord said I was alive in the Lord’s words
Yet I fell to comparison and greed
Yet my heart grew dim I was aware of him
With a shout I cried out
“Free me from this prison of sin”
So, he laid it all down before him
He gave it a name and crushed it before it could speak
So, I rested at the understanding my name means little
And I carry with me a gift that I am free
So, I wait and see you Lord are free too
To place me at the midst of me
So, while I am he who understands thy word
I hunger for it like gold and silver
Like pure gold is valuable and silver useful for many
I value your word to carry me through the storm
I value you as a child values honey
As a kid loves sweets
So, I value you to taste
Father who alone cares for us
As a child you carry me to you
